Lunch meeting in Gothenburg with Tomas Larsson, Kairos Future China
With the Chinese tech giants and their respective spheres coming of age and aggressively expanding overseas, we are increasingly forced to reconsider what is core and what is periphery in the global innovation landscape. This lunch meeting takes a closer look at China’s new wave of innovation:
– What do China’s newborn unicorns (startups valued at $1bn or more) reveal about shifts in China’s innovation landscape?
– What sets Chinese innovators apart and what can Swedish companies learn from them?
– How is the map of innovation in China changing and what knowledge ecosystems can Swedish companies tap into?
– What role do the values and lifestyles of the new Chinese generation play in the new innovation landscape?
Tomas Larsson is the China Head of Kairos Future, an international foresight and strategy consulting company that has been in the business of spotting trends and researching the future since 1993. Tomas is based in Shanghai and his areas of expertise include developments in China’s social, consumer, and innovation spheres. He first moved to China as a student in 2002 and his China experience ranges from working at the Swedish Embassy in Beijing to practicing kung fu at a buddhist monastery in Yunnan. Tomas holds patents on methods for AI-driven trend watching and is educated at UC Berkeley, Lund University, and Fudan University, holding a M.Sc. in Nanoengineering and a M.A. in Asian Studies.
