Jiangsu – an overview of new policies to assist foreign investors

Sweden-China Trade Council is happy to invite all members to this webinar presenting the Jiangsu Province series of new policies, including measurements of decreasing cost of cross-border capital utilization, providing invitation letters for business purpose, protection of legitimate rights and interests of foreign investors, and other feasible solutions to help foreign enterprises to counteract the negative influence of COVID-19. 

Jiangsu, the second largest provincial economy in China, has been in close cooperation with Sweden for many years. Ever since the first Swedish project in China, Sweden-Sino Pharmaceutical Company (SSPC), was founded in Jiangsu in 1982, Jiangsu has been the major agglomeration of Swedish investment in China, hosting more than 40% percent of Swedish investment with 287 projects. Ericsson, ABB, Astra Zeneca, Sandvik, Atlas Copco, Epiroc, Stora Enso, Ikea, Tetra Pak, Nefab and so many more Swedish enterprises have enjoyed rapid development and prosperous business in Jiangsu. The bilateral trade between Jiangsu and Sweden has also been accounting for around a quarter of China Swedish trade for many years.

Ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 in February, 2020, Jiangsu has been taking vigorous measurements. By the beginning of May, the spread of Covid-19 has been contained effectively, and full resumption of work and production have been implemented in Jiangsu.

The presentation will be made by Zhang Zhen, director of Jiangsu Provincial Economic and Trade Office in Sweden since 2017. Zhang Zhen has been proactive in promoting bilateral cooperation in economy and facilitating Swedish enterprises’ investment and operation in Jiangsu.

Jiangsu Provincial Economic and Trade Office in Sweden is the official representative office of Jiangsu Provincial Government in Sweden. The office was founded in 2006, and has been providing the following services to Swedish companies interested in cooperation and investment in Jiangsu.

  • Advice on investment conditions, laws and regulations in Jiangsu.
  • Presentation and recommendation of partners, development zones and locations for investment in Jiangsu.
  • Authorized data and information about business, investment and commerce in Jiangsu.
  • Organization of events and mutual trips for cooperation in the fields of technology, economy, investment and trade.
  • Consulting and organization of companies for trade promotion and trade fair participation in Jiangsu.
  • Supports to bring results of scientific and technical research to the Chinese market.
