Government relations in China – How can Swedish companies understand, adapt to, and impact policy and legislation? Breakfast meeting, October 17

Unknown

New regulations and legislation can often have a large impact on a company’s business. This is especially true for highly regulated industries and markets, such as China. Local companies in China spend much effort building political contacts and influence, but many foreign companies are hesitant to engage with the Chinese political system due to political and ethical risks.

What government relations tools and activities are available to a foreign company in China?
What benefits can a well-planned government relations effort bring to China operations?
What are the ethical risks and how can they be managed?
How can foreign companies build institutional government relations presence in China’s capital to help create and sustain business?

Speakers:

Mr. Yuan Haiying is the founder of the government relations advisory firm Yuan Associates, a major player in China’s growing government relations industry. Mr. Yuan has thirty years of experience working in the Chinese government, including in senior diplomatic postings in Washington D.C. as China’s Agriculture Attaché, and in Rome as the Alternate Representative to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO).
