Welcome to join us for this conference on possibilities for Swedish companies attending the well-known China Import and Export Fair, also known as the “Canton Fair”, held twice every year since 1957 in Guangzhou and the first China International Import Expo, CIIE, to be held November 5-10 in Shanghai.
Canton Fair is an important channel for China’s foreign trade sector and a demonstration of China’s opening up policy. It plays a key role in advancing the development of China’s foreign trade and the economic and trade exchanges between China and the rest of the world. Since its establishment in 1957, according to the organizers Canton Fair has enjoyed the longest history, the largest scale, the most complete product variety, the best business turnover in China, and the biggest buyer attendance from the broadest range of countries for 123 sessions.
In May 2017, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation that China will hold China International Import Expo (CIIE) starting from 2018. To hold CIIE is a significant move for the Chinese government to push forward a new round of high-level opening-up, and an important measure to actively open the Chinese market to the world.
